For the final essay, you will demonstrate your understanding of the skills necessary to draft an effective researched argumentative essay. In this essay, you will write an evaluation of the review of Black Adam the movie
In the evaluation, you must summarize the subject being evaluated, and determine the criteria necessary for such an object to be considered a good version of its kind (e.g. what makes a good comedy movie?). Then your essay must prove your thesis, which will be to make a claim about your subject being a good or bad example of its kind (e.g. This movie is a good comedy because it has these characteristics.)
The Evaluation should have the following:
Introduction (between 100-200 words):
-brief introduction of the topic of your review
-statement of criteria that make up a good movie/book/album/etc
-thesis statement that argues your subject is either good or bad based on [at least] four criteria ([at least] three that prove it’s good/bad and [at least] one that argues it may not be as good/bad)
Summary (between 100-200 words):
summary of the major background information/people/history of the subject of your review (e.g. release dates, creators, initial response to subject, subject’s success/failure [sales, etc]).
Body (between 150-250 words per paragraph / between 600-1250 words for total body):
-at least four body paragraphs (one for each of the main topics and one for the counterargument)
-each paragraph should follow the guidelines, as discussed in class, for effective body paragraphs
-focused topic sentences, which follow the format of topic sentences as discussed in class, for each body paragraph
-at least one (MLA formatted) quote/stat from an outside source for each body paragraph
-each paragraph should only focus on one of the four criteria
In the Body there should be at least 1 counterargument paragraph that discusses a weakness of the review and uses at least one other review to compare.
Conclusion (between 100-150 words):
-Restates the point of the essay
-gives and indication of whether the review convinces the reader to buy/use/engage with the object
