Final production with scripts
Task description
Due date: 7 November 16:00
Word count / length of episodes: see task description below.
Weighting: 30%
This task requires you to produce a pilot episode for the season you have pitched. Your final produced audio should demonstrate development of your ideas, taking in feedback from your script and pitch assessments. We encourage you to also attend and participate in work-in-progress sessions in the final weeks of semester.
You do not need to cite scholarly sources in your script, but it should be clear how your episode is informed by the ideas and arguments in the course (see criteria).
Your script should be prepared using this template.
You have two options of how you complete this task.
Option 1: 12-15 minute audio pilot episode
Produce an audio episode that is 12-15 minutes in length. The pilot episode should be accompanied by a script of the episode. The scripts should contain everything a listener would ‘hear’ in the final produced episode – this should include excerpts from interviews and other third-party media material, and clear reference to any additional ambient sounds. The scripts will be for a pilot episode of a podcast season that you will pitch in class. Use the template that we provide on blackboard to format your scripts.
If your episode is 12-15 minutes long the script should be approximately 1500 words.
Option 2: 8-10 minute audio pilot episode with accompanying images
Produce an audio episode that is 8-10 minutes in length.
If your episode is 8-10 minutes long the script should be approximately 1000 words.
In addition to the audio episode you will also produce vertical images (or other multimedia material such as video or filters by negotiation with the course coordinator). This material will demonstrate how the story will be told and/or promoted on social media platforms like Instagram or TikTok.
